Christ Church Restoration Committee

Click on photos above or below for larger versions or additional photos

The Restoration Committe was reformed in 2009 to co-incide with the Sesqui-Centenary of Christ Church.
The Sanctuary has been fully restored with new render, cracks fixed and fresh paintwork that shows off once again the splendour of the Stained glass windows, which are the original windows of the building.
The roof has once again had a check over and is now in perfect condition. Restoration continues on this Heritage listed building and currently plans are underway to finish the interior works of the church before commencing a new Vestry and revamping of the Memorial Garden alongside the Church. The Committe is working very hard to have this beautiful building around for another 150 years and always seeking donations or grants to help attain the goal.

The Concerts of course are an integral part of the Committees work.

Christ Church Society of Bell Ringers

The Bell Ringers are an important part of the worship at Christ Church. Ever willing to ring for Weddings, Funerals and Feast Seasons and Days.
They also hold a stall for Breakfast at the Farmers Markets each month and assisst with anything that is happening with the Church.
At present they are learning how to ring a new set of hand bells they have purchased under the watchful eye of Christ Church Organist Sandra Williams.
Naturally there is always a place for new ringers or those wishing to learn the art of bell-ringing. Guided tours of the Bell Tower are available to any interested with the permission of the ringers and the Priest

Christ Church Ladies Guild.

A small but dedicated group of women who look after the fabric and furnishings of Christ Church. Each year they set themselves a project to accomplish. 2011 saw the recoating of the brassware, also they worked tirelessly to support the work of the Parish for the Diocese of the Horn and also supported the Parish of Marysville to transport goods to the Santa Maria Mission in Central Australia. Naturally as with all Guilds there is the usual Catering Gatherings that go with the life of the Church. The Guild members at Beechworth also supply 3-4 Bar- B- Que's a year for the Prisoners who look after grounds of the Church as a part of the outreachÊto the community here in Beechworth. ÊAn organisation is only as strong as its members, so to these ladies and friends a big thank-you.

Eldorado Homework Club

The Eldorado Homework Club began as an initiative of Anglicare and the Diocese of Wangaratta's Parish Partnerships program back in 2007.
Volunteers from St. Jude's Church Eldorado, and the local community, some of whom are ex-teachers, meet with the children in the church hall once a week after school during term time. any children who want to come are welcome and they are helped with reading, worksheets and maths.
Each child brings $1.00 towards the cost of afternoon tea, (though it doesn't matter if they don't have it), and there is always time for play.
The children go off to different schools, so Homework Club is a good opportunity for social interaction, and as most of the volunteers are retired, it is also a chance to bridge the generation gap and build on the social capital of this small community.
The volunteers also run craft and activity days during the school holidays, which are popular with both local and visiting children

Eldorado Book Club

St. Jude's Hall is also the home of the First Friday Book Club, where a small group of locals get together for a cuppa and a chat, and to select a month's reading material from the wide variety of donated books. Like the Homework Club, the Book Club is open to anyone who is interested in coming. A small charge of $3.00 is made to cover the cost of Morning Tea.
